Porsche shows its spark at the ‘What Car?’ Awards.

14/8/2020

On 5 August 2020, an unrivalled combination of sporty driving dynamics and efficient powertrains saw the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Porsche Taycan 4S rewarded in the What Car? Electric Car Awards 2020.

The monthly consumer motoring magazine reviewed the hybrid and electric car market, where the expert jurors assessed all vehicle aspects with a view to helping buyers understand more about this developing segment. Electric performance, everyday use and driving enjoyment were some of the key categories in which both Porsche vehicles thrived.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid which starts in purely electric ‘E-Power’ mode and operates as a zero emissions vehicle for up to 31 miles. It boasts a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine capable of producing 462 PS, driving all four wheels from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds to a top speed of 172 mph. Supporting the car is the standard three-chamber air suspension which balances comfort and agility for a multi-dimensional driving experience. The judges at What Car? commented: “With lots of driver appeal, sensible running costs and a beautiful interior, this Panamera is a prime example of how plug-in hybrids can be exciting and yet eminently liveable.“

The all-new Porsche Taycan 4S was seen to have “raised the bar for electric performance cars by demonstrating that battery power doesn’t have to mean a one-dimensional driving experience.” The Taycan motors have been tuned to deliver Porsche-typical breath-taking acceleration and repeatable performance. A sprint to 62 mph takes just 4.0 seconds, and can reach up to 155 mph.
